About Bay Pop Shop & the Artwork
What is Bay Pop Shop?
Bay Pop Shop is the official home of artwork and merchandise created by Maryland artist Ramon Matheu. Founded in 2007 and inspired by a lifelong connection to the Chesapeake Bay, Bay Pop Shop celebrates the wildlife, traditions, landscapes, and experiences that make life around the Bay unique.
More than artwork to hang on a wall, Bay Pop Shop is a Chesapeake Bay-inspired lifestyle brand created to share a love for the Bay and the stories, memories, and traditions that connect people to this remarkable region.
Visit the about page for more details.
What types of art do you sell?
Bay Pop Shop offers original artwork created, illustrated, and hand-painted by Ramon Matheu, along with high-quality giclée fine art prints and canvases.
New artwork is first released in limited quantities as signed and individually numbered Limited Editions, giving collectors the opportunity to own a more exclusive version while it is available. Once a Limited Edition has sold out, the artwork is usually rereleased as an unsigned and unnumbered Open Edition print at a later date.
Is Ramon Matheu’s artwork signed?
Original artwork and Limited Edition prints and canvases are hand-signed by Ramon Matheu. Limited Editions are also individually numbered.
Open Edition artwork and many Bay Pop Shop products may include Ramon’s printed signature but are not individually hand-signed unless stated in the product description.

What paper stocks do you use?
We use Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper, Semi-Glossy / Luster Photo Paper, and Premium Archival Smooth Matte Fine Art Paper. Check your selected print’s product page for its paper stock. See our Art Material & Sizing Guide for details.
Do you offer framing?
Yes. Many prints and canvases can be ordered with matting and framing options, including black, natural wood, espresso brown, and driftwood gray frames. Floating frames may also be available for select canvases.
Available options are shown on each product page, and additional custom framing may be available through select local Annapolis framing partners.
What is a Giclée print?
A giclée is a high-quality fine art print produced using professional printing technology, archival-quality inks, and premium paper or canvas to provide excellent color, detail, and longevity.
Looking for something larger?
Many of Ramon’s designs can be produced in custom sizes, including impressive 4 × 6-foot gallery-wrapped
canvases with 1.5-inch-deep printed sides. Custom framing may also be available through select local Annapolis framing partners.
Please contact Bay Pop Shop to discuss larger sizes, pricing, framing, and delivery options.
How do the paper finishes differ?
Smooth matte has a non-reflective surface, Somerset Velvet has a soft textured feel, and luster has a satin sheen with less glare than full gloss.
What are your canvas prints made from?
Our acid-free archival poly-cotton canvas has a subtle semi-gloss finish. It is gallery-wrapped over 1.5-inch solid wood stretcher bars, with hanging wire installed for ready-to-hang display.
Do framed paper prints include a mat?
Yes. Framed paper prints include a 1.5-inch white mat. Available frame finishes and sizes are shown on each product page. Our Art Material & Sizing Guide has more frame and mat details.
Do limited-edition paper prints have a border?
Limited-edition paper prints include up to 2 inches of blank border on all four sides. Check the product page for the available print size and presentation.
Custom & Commissioned Artwork
Do you accept custom requests and commissioned artwork?
Yes! Bay Pop Shop welcomes inquiries for commissioned paintings, hand-drawn digital artwork, custom embellishments, and other special projects.
Custom artwork requires a little more conversation, so Bay Pop Shop will work directly with the customer to discuss the idea, size, style, budget, timeframe, and delivery options before the project begins. Please use our Contact Form and include a brief description of what you have in mind.
