About the Artist

Ramon Matheu - Pop Artist in

Maryland Eastern Shore artist and Bay Pop Shop founder Ramon Matheu creates Chesapeake Bay-inspired artwork shaped by a lifelong connection to the region’s wildlife, coastal culture, traditions, and environmental restoration.

Inspiration

I once read that Andy Warhol was looking for subjects to paint when a friend suggested something everybody recognized, “like Campbell’s Soup.” That simple idea helped inspire some of Pop Art’s most recognizable imagery and made me wonder what familiar object could tell a similar story about Maryland.

For me, the answer was Old Bay. It’s a familiar flavor at crab feasts, restaurants, and kitchens throughout the region. I created *Old Bay With Spice* as my own pop-art tribute to that iconic Maryland flavor and began selling prints of it in 2007.

What is a limited edition?

A limited edition is a release of an artwork limited to a fixed number of prints. The edition size shown for your selected size and format tells you how many prints belong to that edition.

Each limited edition print is individually signed and numbered by Ramon Matheu.

It’s a personal connection to the artist and a distinctive way to bring Ramon’s Chesapeake Bay-inspired artwork into your collection.
